Derek Dashwood reads that while another billion people are more free and have been lived from abject poverty to low income. Education, health, clean water, are still needed in so many places including rural China. But progress is being made and seems likely to continue

This is worst at oil refineries or heavy industry such as steel or cement plants, with overt burning of fossil fuels to an extent that the area is overcast with pollution. As example, the valley of Mexico City, Cairo or Lagos. In America, much improved since 1970, still hot spots from New Jersey to Nevada to Washington State has spots that are still nuclear red hot. Or with pollution, in isolated pockets, as in the developing world, as in pockets of India. But it is only east China that glows red hot from Beijing in a greatest arc on earth down past Shanghai.
And any visit by television camera now shows that as one new coal burning energy plant is built each week now in China as the Middle Kingdom goes into dirty industry on a scale unseen in history. In some valley in China each week the skies grow from blue to gray all the day. Blue sky, you are in the way to our progress to create factories from lagoons by a bay. We have learned your way. We sell you trinkets, so cheap that you buy. but you war, so cannot pay all the way. so we take your Treasury bills as IOU.
We must all keep doing our best, and with our cooperation China will surely rise to the test.
Firms will make money finding new ways to clean earth, once it is all too apparent that we change or we die. If we all pitch in, and plant our own tree, and cut down on our waste, we may see blue skies again. So plant a tree, for you and for me, we can all spend more wisely at bargains at your local plant shoppe. Then it could become to be, that we all plant a tree for blue sky and green trees. And diapers get placed soon on all coal burning places that have a smoke stack.
When we see blue sky above that hot tower we can invite the best marathon runner to give the route a try again. If he is still alive. We can, we must, we will do this: clean up our act. The two nations on earth planting more trees than they cut are China and Canada. With Canada, it is so vast that it is being dedicated as lungs to the earth by groups diverse as the Pew Institute in America. In China, we can see plantings on the edge of vast Gobi desert sand dunes that dwarf all as they advance into farmlands. Challenges are immense.
Those groups most green should be encouraged, as we need to watch what we consume, waste while world hunger is at it's worse in decades. The world has run short of food for the first time since the failed bombed farm fields of 1947.Buy green, be wise, the good mom earth is not well. We can help. We must. China is burying it's glorious past: any you can find on the net will likely soon be replaced by a much cheaper modern copy.
