Rocky Is An Embarrassment to Salt Lake

by Dwight J. Barrett, Salt Lake City

The more I see Rocky Anderson the more I think he is despicable individual. I am ashamed of the people who elected him. The people who voted for him should be ashamed of themselves. If the people who voted for him are not ashamed of them selves then I am ashamed for them.

Rocky has no right to use his position as Mayor to promote his personal agenda. Rocky has no right to use our money to promote impeaching President Bush. Rocky spends way too much time chasing down President Bush and not enough time taking care of the business of running Salt Lake City.

The Salt Lake City council should ask Rocky to step down. The city council should enact a city ordinance spelling out the grounds for impeachment so that if Salt Lake ever gets another despicable person in the position of Mayor they can impeach him. If there ever was a Mayor that should be impeached it is Rocky. Rocky doesn’t represent me and I hope and pray he doesn’t really represent the people of S.L.C.!

Rocky reminds me of what Hitler must have looked like when he ranted and raved. The only difference between Hitler and Rocky is that Hitler didn’t drool and slobber when he spoke. Both are as radical. Rocky is so desperate to find someone who will listen to him he must go to the parks and preach to the homeless.

I hope and pray that Rocky will go down in the history books as being the trashiest Mayor that Salt Lake City has ever had. I hope and pray the citizens of Salt Lake City will try to elect a better representative than Rocky. Rocky is an embarrassment to me and Salt Lake City.

Oh the old Hitler reference, that is always a winner. You know someone has really thought out what they have to say when they compare someone to Hitler. Rocky speaks on his own time and does a fine job taking care of the city's business. He has every right to use his freedom of speech just the same as you do, Rocky just has enough sense to make his points without using Hitler.

This is the same Rocky who has a 54% approval rating from the people who elected him.

The more I see George W Bush the more I think he is despicable individual. I am ashamed of the people who elected him. The people who voted for him should be ashamed of themselves. If the people who voted for him are not ashamed of them selves then I am ashamed for them.

Bush has no right to use his position as President to promote his personal agenda. Bush has no right to use our money to promote Haliburton. Bush spends way too much time chasing down Democrats and not enough time taking care of the business of running America or tracking down Bin Laden.

The American people should ask Bush to step down. The people should enact an ordinance spelling out the grounds for impeachment so that if America ever gets another despicable person in the position of President they can impeach him. If there ever was a President that should be impeached it is Bush. Bush doesn’t represent me and I hope and pray he doesn’t really represent the people of U.S.A.!

Bush reminds me of what Hitler must have looked like when he ranted and raved. The only difference between Hitler and Bush is that Hitler didn’t use phony words when he spoke. Both are as radical. Bush is so desperate to find someone who will listen to him he must go to the parks and preach to the homeless.

I hope and pray that Bush will go down in the history books as being the trashiest President that America has ever had. I hope and pray the citizens of America will try to elect a better representative than Bush. Bush is an embarrassment to me and America.

Dwight, that was really the most ridiculous spleen venting I've ever read.

Welcome to America, bonehead.

You want to do it different, run for office. It's easy as hell to sit behind a computer a spew vindictive vitriol, but you're nothing more than a candy ass with an ignorant point of view and nothing better to spend your time on then publicly demonstrative sycophancy-babble when you disagree with someone.

Like his point or not, he at least brings reasons, examples and evidence to support his arguments. You? You're just a dick.

Hitler?

Come on, bro. You can do better than that.

Posted by: Tom Grover at April 10, 2007 02:17 PM

Hitler? That is so stupid it barely needs recognition. And where does the drooling reference come from? And what does it matter? I have not exactly been a big fan of Rocky, but that does not mean I dismiss him out of hand. Dwight's remarks are emblematic of the problem with American political discourse today: ad-hominem insults and personal feelings are substituted for facts and reason.

Consider that Phil Windley allowed Dwight's foaming rant on this web site. If collective punishment is good enough for Islamists, it's good enough for Utah's neocon community.

When someone uses the epithet "Hitler" as a attack against someone with opposing views, I want to fart in that person's general direction. People who use it towards Bush sound just as worthless as the author of this post sounds.

Although, it is unfathomable to me that Rocky is so popular in the capital city. However, I really can't say much else because he isn't my mayor. If you want to argue Rocky's faults, do some research bring some facts to the table. I honestly cannot think of even 5 meaningful things he has done to improve the economic prosperity or political infrastucture of Salt Lake.

Using epithets makes you look shrill, unintelligent, and unworthy of honest consideration.

Just as weak, Bob.

People need to be better informed when it comes to their politicians, and then vote for them because they have good principles, not because they are prettier (or the other guy is uglier) than their opponent. The one thing I will give Rocky is that he is very passionate about what he does. If the people of Salt Lake really don't like what he's doing, they shouldn't have voted for him in the first place. Considering that he can't run (isn't running?) again, it's hard to tell whether he would be re-elected, as he's gone off on his crusade since after the last election.

I wouldn't have voted for him if I lived in SLC. But it's simply because I disagree with him on freedom of religion, (including the fact that his type shouldn't be able to force us all to belong to the church of global warming), freedom to bear arms, freedom of markets,...is anyone noticing a trend here?

I didn't vote for Bush either, or his sorry establishment father. They're not really conservatives, and they are a blight on the Republican party.

Wow, Hitler? Really? You are a son of a bitch! As a freaking Jewish person stuck in Zion I am truly offended Dwight. How dare you compare Rocky to one of the largest mass murderers in history. You are a classic example of the ignorance that seems to catch the rest of the countries attention to Utah,(yes more than Rocky).

"Rocky reminds me of what Hitler must have looked like when he ranted and raved. The only difference between Hitler and Rocky is that Hitler didn’t drool and slobber when he spoke. Both are as radical"

Isn't that a bit hypocritical of you to say? On one hand you get upset for him ranting and raving and being too radical? And then you compare him to Hitler? Come now, isn't that a little ranting and raving, and radical of you?

Love him or hate him, he has a constitutional right to say whatever it is he wants to say. And if you want to start impeaching for using taxpayer money to promote a personal agenda, going on non-sensical ranting and raving, being extremely radical, and with speech problems, I suggest you consider starting from the top. Because the bigger embarrasment is there. (And yes I mean GWB for those who don't get the sarcasm)

I recognize Rocky Anderson's freedom of speech as an American citizen but not as Mayor. He is using his office as a megaphone to make his voice heard. He has no more right to voice his opinion than I or anyone else, but as Mayor, he places himself and his voice above that of real people. He is not even a good mayor.

As stupid as this post is, it is actually a representative sample of the typical screeds written against Rocky. Those who hate him usually don't have a rational reason for doing so and so they resort to things like "Rocky is Hitler."

The explanation to most Utahn's dislike of Rocky is simple. He is an intelligent, honest, and relentlessly values-driven politician, something that Utahns are not used to.
