I'm an opponent on the use of psychotropic chemicals for children. As the CEO of MH agencies, I did not allow psychotropic medication as a treatment option. In my last agency, 26 out of 30 children were medicated. We reduced and then eliminated medication for nearly all. We were down to 8 after 3 years, and headed to zero when I retired. Common problems (runways, fights, restraints) were nearly eliminated as drugs were eliminated. I write and lecture about this. I have a Ph.D. in psychology.
