Why do women take their husbands back after infidelity?

Most men will not take their wives back after committing infidelity. Most men will not stand beside their wives in public in support of their actions.
Do you think women take the men back because of their socialization, because they are more emotional about relationships, in some cases bring less resoures in to the marriage?
