On January 30th, Bloody Sunday, the British army shot dead thirteen civil rights protestors, predominantly Catholic, in Derry's Bogside, an event which still reverberates around the UK, Ireland, and beyond, to this day.

The Austin Capital Metro received quite a bit of attention as its board of directors worked on selecting who would serve as the agency's leader for the foreseeable future. The reality is that Capital Metro has encountered a number of failures and other problems over the past few years and, unfortunately, many of these issues are still haunting the transit authority today.

It looks like Tony Hayward, who's been taking much of the heat for the recent BP oil spill fiasco, may be on his way out as CEO of the oil giant. Known for appearing somewhat less than truly concerned with the impact of those most directly affected by the disaster, he's also been recorded making verbal gaffes portraying him as glib and self-absorbed.

The smoothbore musket, a weapon of limited range and accuracy that saw service during the American Civil War, it was later on superseded by the Musket which became chief weapon of the American civil war. Firing lines then were more than 500 yards apart and the weapons lacked enough velocity to inflict significant injury, in response to this ammo limitation, attacking troops had to be massed elbow by elbow and attempt an assault, if they were sufficient in number and ran fast enough, then the defensive line couldn't do them much damage.

History doesn't look too kindly on one-term Presidents. The likes of George Bush Sr, Jimmy Carter, William Taft and Herbert Hoover. He was elected with such fanfare and enthusiasm but most of the hype has faded.

Although history shows that a tavern in Boston, owned by Richard Fairbanks, was the first location to handle overseas mail, it wasn't until July 26, 1775 that the United States Post Office was officially born.

I was shocked to see that the lowest part of the campaign trail for Gordon Brown came as a result of the most amateurish mistakes of them all. Whether or not you agree with Brown's description of Gillian Duffy there's no excusing such a schoolboy error.
We've all heard the story. An angry lifelong Labour supporter took the opportunity to challenge Gordon Brown on a number of issues - including immigration and crime - whilst he was on the campaign trail.
